DJ/producer Phil Weeks is a house music purist. His mixing is old school Chicago with a nu-school French flare going from the deepest house to the techiest. His production sounds like it could have been released in the 90’s partly because he uses the same gear – 808’s, 909’s, 606’s, even vintage keys. He likes his mixes dirty, and knows how to rock a crowd with a heavy hitting bass line. Phil Weeks is a house purist dedicated to bringing the world only proper house music with his DJing, his producing and his label, Robsoul Recordings.

A true lover of house music, Phil Weeks’ DJ career started 15 years ago. With skills comparable to the best and crowd-pleasing track selection it wasn’t long before Phil Weeks became a major player in the house music scene. He’s played some of the world’s most renowned venues like Queen’s Club, Circus, Ministry of Sound, Back to Basics, and Stereo.

By 2000 he was ready for the next step and Robsoul Recordings was born. Originally the label was meant as an avenue for Phil to release his own tracks the way he wanted to and the success was more than he anticipated. Phil Weeks’ early release “It Put Me Well” became classic in a couple of months. NO Phil Weeks is one of the worlds most sought after producers saving his best work for his label.

It wasn’t long before this success lead to the decision to sign other artists to the label. Consequently Robsoul is now one of the world’s most renowned and respected house music labels featuring some of the world’s best like Derrick Carter, DJ Sneak, Mark Farina, David Duriez, No Assembly Firm, Fries and Bridges(his duo with Hector Moralez), and Chris Carrier. Releases are selling out in a time when many labels aren’t able to keep afloat. But Phil Weeks’ isn’t one to brag about this. To him it’s all about keeping proper house music alive. Which just goes to show Phil Weeks is a house purist.

We gave him the ol`Q&A:

1. All time most influential Dj?

Derrick Carter, for the mixing, the energy, the tricks, the creativity.
All I’m doing now.

2. How long have you been behind the decks?

15 years

3. Most memorable gig?

Hard choice!! A lot have been amazing…but now I will say Zucker Party in Brazil
I was playing with Mark Farina and Anhanguera was opening.
We arrived with an helicopter in the middle of the party…

4. Best crowd?

Take A Trip @ LoveHate /Miami (wmc2011)
H2O club in Belgium (Pecq)

5. Vice of choice?

Smoking weed/Getting High

6. Place you call home?

My Apartment in Villejuif (suburbs of Paris) where I have my studio and my family.

7. Average travelling days annually?

Always depends on the year. When it was the minimal/electro fashion I would say 40 gigs in a year.
At the moment, more than 80 gig a year. About travelling days, hard to say but at least 100 days per year.

8. On your IPod at the moment?

A lot of Things…always moves…now I’m checking. Kanye West – Late registration album (from 2005)

9. Most happening promoter/event producer at the moment?

??

10. What will we expect to see & hear of you in the coming future?

A big part of the year I will be touring to promote the album.
I will work on few remixes and also some more project with Hector for Fries & Bridges, with Joss Moog, and Dan Ghenacia.
Maybe I will start a new Big project also (like my new album “Love Affair”). I have a lot of ideas I want to explore.
Bring my music in bigger studio to do some better Mix Down.
And I will do my best to bring the label to another level…with more videos and fun.
