The record was produced by Tim Nielsen (Drivin’ N’ Cryin’) and features ten original songs from the formerly reclusive Franklin. The new record features guest musicians Kevn Kinney (Drivin’ N’ Cryin’), Abby Owens, Leah Calvert, and Kevin Morrison (hollyfaith).
Franklin was inspired to make the album by Kristian Bush (Sugarland), who insisted that Franklin record after hearing him perform his new songs live at Eddie’s Attic.
“Kristian Bush, of Sugarland, told me it was ‘time to make a new record’ one night at Eddie’s,” said Franklin. “I realized he was right, so I surrounded myself with my favorite musical friends and went into the studio. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done; I’m really proud of it.”
Franklin, former member of the legendary Atlanta alternative rock band, hollyfaith, has also toured and recorded with Drivin' n' Cryin', Kristen Hall, Billy Pilgrim, and opened for the likes of Johnny & June Carter Cash, Sinead O'Conner, and Jewel. Franklin resides in the Virginia-Highlands area of Atlanta and is widely considered Atlanta’s most under-rated, best singer and player by musicians, critics, and fans that are “in the know”. Dave Franklin’s first recording, the critically acclaimed “Bones and All”, was released in 1991 on Sister Ruby Records and was proclaimed by Eddie Owen (of Eddie’s Attic) “the best CD to ever come out of Atlanta”.
Because of touring and recording with rock bands, Franklin waited nine years to release his follow up album, “Gutterbound For Glory” in 2000. The record was another critically acclaimed collection of Franklin’s eclectic, yet classic American reflections. Now, Franklin is set to release his third album at the Fall Fest. The record will be released on his own “FrampTone Records” label and CDs will be exclusively available at Fall Fest before going on sale anywhere else.
