How are you doing?
I'm happy to be so busy doing what I love to do most- ROCKING!!
What are you doing these days?
Gearing up for the physical release of my album SUGAR on June 15th. I will be playing The ROXY in LA on June
22nd. Lots of rehearsals and a few showcases in NYC. We sold out Hiro Ballroom in New York in Jan. Its
wonderful to be playing live. Thats what makes me tick.
A normal day in the life of Bebe Buell?
I'm writing my next book outline so I try and give that a little time each day.My dogs, my husband, my band,
my close friends are usually a part of my normal day.
Best time of your life?
The birth of my daughter Liv. And right NOW!
All time biggest fuck up?
Not having more kids.
Favourite food?
Indian and Mexican
Drink?
Champagne or vodka but I drink rarely
On the stereo?
At this moment I'm listening to an early Bad Brains album. Before that I had Echo & The Bunnymen, The Dead
Weather, The Kills, The Ramones and The Stooges blasting throughout the house. I'm back in love with early
Rolling Stones and Bowie too. Love Bowie's "Low". Stones "Let It Bleed". Jack White- all of his projects.
On screen?
Avatar is my favorite movie of late and my favorite TV shows are TRUE BLOOD and BIG LOVE- both HBO
Sports?
I'm not very sporty but I enjoy a good hockey game from time to time - The New York Rangers
Tattoos?
Each tattoo has its own story and personal meaning. I have only one around my left ankle. Its not really my
cup of tea to be covered in them but I do find some of the art gorgeous.
Sex?
I'm married and have been with my husband for over ten years now so sex is good and often!
Drugs? Again, it is a personal choice- I think the way Amsterdam views drugs and sex is probably the way to
go. For me personally, I lost all interest in drugs. I don't enjoy getting high so I don't.
Rock`n Roll (State of it today compared to before)?
The obvious answer is that is has changed - the industry itself but I don't let it stop me from making and
putting out a new record and playing live. Good music is good music- doesn't matter when it was made or by
whom- a good song is a good song.
I don't label things and I try to listen and go see as many new bands as I can. I love Living Things right
now- thats the last band I saw live- oh, and The Cult!
Instead of complaining about the state of the "business" I do my part by supporting exciting new talent.
Transport?
A jeep Cherokee
Best live concert?
I can't pick the best- I have many memories of great concerts that I've seen- everything from early Stooges to
The Rolling Stones when I was 12 years old! Sitting onstage for Aerosmith. Elvis Costello at Hollywood High 1978
Best rock`n roll memory?
Again, I have to many to pick a "best"- but it would probably be seeing The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan show when I was ten and being consumed by The British Invasion. The 70's were pretty amazing as far as bands and great concerts went.
Which musicians do you still keep in contact with from ”back in the days”?
I treasure my friendships and am always happy to run into people I've lost track of over the years- it is always nice to see old friends. I've kept all of my friends for decades. But it would be impossible to "list" what musicians because that is my social circle. I've been playing in bands for over 30 years myself so I know a lot of Musical people - male and female. But probably the ones I see the most are Debbie Harry, Patti Smith, my baby daddy - Steven Tyler
Vice of choice?
Chocolate
Who do you respect the most?
Can't narrow that down to one person- MY FAMILY
What do you appreciate the most in your friends?
Loyalty
What do your friends appreciate the most in you?
My motherly nature and my never give up spirit
State of the world today?
The world has always had difficulties since the beginning of recorded time. The
world is like everything else- what you make of it and how you treat it. As the great Michael Jackson would
say "start with the man in the mirror".
The Music Scene in general?
Like a huge warehouse of choice and options. There will always be good bands- talented people. Music scenes
come and go but be assured there is always someone new that will kick ass. I will never give up on the gift of
music and art. It is far too important to dismiss.
What will we see & hear of Bebe Buell in 2010?
2010 is devoted to playing live in support of my new album SUGAR- if you are in LA come on down to The ROXY on
June 22nd! We'll be heading to the UK as well. Amsterdam, Berlin, Prague, France... I'm living my dream - playing music and my family are my top priorities.
