10 classic festival looks – from 10 legendary music festivals
Best of Festivals & Festiwear - Part4 Roskilde - Scruffball

Music and Fashion have always had a strong connection, from way before Vogue and Rolling Stone Magazine got into the game. Trought times, musicians have proved a knack for picking up, and popularizing, international trends and movements. Well traveled and often perseptive to everything new, through history they have inspired everyone from the Lady of the House to die-hard fans. The economic growth of the 50s gave teens their own fashions, for the first time in history, while the music festivals of the 60s and 70s gave street fashions and underground music an International platform. Legendary music festivals have given birth to some of the most iconic festival fashions in time, and they are still alive and kicking. OK, so some of them may burn your eyes, but who cares. It’s only Rock´n´Roll. And Jazz. And Metal. And we like it.

ROSKILDE – SCRUFFBALL

Annual festival in Denmark, which has been going for 40 years. It started up in 1971, arranged by two teenagers, and rose from 20 bands and 20 000 visitors to it’s present number of 70 000 ticket-buyers and 25 000 volunteers. Since the very start, the profile has been broad and including, with a number of stages featuring genres like Singersongwriter, R&B, World Music, Electronica, Punk and Rock. Some may remember the tragic accident of nine people being squashed to death under the Pearl Jam-gig in 2000, but today the security has greatly improved. That’s not the case with the everlasting mud-issue on the camp, and many a Roskilde visitor have been covered in mucky goo from top to bottom, loosing all their equipment, sleeping bags, tent, clothes and bags in a sea of sludge. For this exact reason, the festival fashions of Roskilde, are naturally effortless, unkempt and dirty. Sometimes they are not even there. As in stark bollock.
